ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini for social media content, and what none of them do
An honest three-way comparison: what each chat AI makes on its own, how each one connects to other tools, and the part of the job none of them does.
Most business owners who make social content with AI start in a chat. The question is which one, and what you will still need once the chat is done.
Here is how ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini compare for social media in late 2026: what each one makes natively (text, images, video), how each connects to other tools, and what none of them does. Prices are monthly billing, read on October 28, 2026; they change often.
ChatGPT: text, images and a Canva app
Plans: a no-cost tier with limits, Go at $8 a month in the US, Plus at $20 and Pro from $100.
What it makes: scripts, captions and hooks, and images, on every plan with caps. OpenAI's Sora makes video, but what each plan includes has changed more than once, so check OpenAI's help pages before you count on it.
How it connects: ChatGPT has an app directory, launched in December 2025. The Canva app creates and edits designs in the chat on personal accounts, though it is not available in the EU or China, and you finish and export in Canva.
Posting: ChatGPT does not post to Instagram or TikTok on its own. Third-party apps connect it to a scheduler.

Claude: the writer that connects to your tools
Plans: Free, Pro at $20 a month ($17 a month billed yearly) and Max from $100 a month.
What it makes: text, and a lot of it: scripts, captions, content calendars and long drafts. Claude does not generate photos or illustrations the way image tools do, though it can make charts and diagrams. Its plans list no video editing.
How it connects: this is Claude's strength. Its Connectors Directory of MCP servers works on web, desktop and mobile. There is a Canva connector for designs, Zapier's MCP (on every Zapier plan, with each tool call using about two tasks; Zapier Pro is $29.99 a month) to reach other apps, and Ocoya exposes MCP for scheduling posts. Pro adds scheduled tasks, but those run Claude on a timer; its plans list no posting to social accounts.

Gemini: the most video built in
Plans: Free, AI Plus at $4.99, AI Pro at $19.99 and AI Ultra from $99.99 a month.
What it makes: text, images with Nano Banana, and video. Gemini Omni, launched May 19, 2026, makes and edits video by conversation in the Gemini app, Flow and YouTube Shorts, with a SynthID watermark. Video in the Gemini app needs a paid plan. AI Pro includes a trial of Veo 3.1 Lite; Ultra has Veo 3.1.
How it connects: inside Google's own tools. Flow, the filmmaking tool built on Veo, is on AI Pro and Ultra and came to Workspace in January 2026, and Google Vids makes presentation-style video.
Posting: its plans list no posting or scheduling to your social accounts. Some reviewers also report spelling errors in the text of generated videos, so add words in an editor.

Side by side
Writing scripts and captions: all three, well. This is what chat AIs are best at.
Images: ChatGPT and Gemini make them natively. Claude does not make photos or illustrations; it reaches designs through the Canva connector.
Video: Gemini makes and edits clips in the app on paid plans. ChatGPT has Sora, with plan limits that keep changing. Claude makes none.
Connections: ChatGPT has apps, including Canva. Claude connects through MCP connectors, including Canva, Zapier and Ocoya. Gemini works best inside Google's own tools.
Posting to your accounts: none of the three, on their own.
What none of them do
None of the three takes the footage you shot and turns it into a finished social video: cut, with B-roll, music and captions, sized for each platform, and then posted to your accounts. Gemini comes closest on video, and can edit by conversation, but posting still happens somewhere else.
So each one needs a stack around it. Priced from each tool's own page (CapCut Pro $19.99, Buffer $15, Zapier Pro $29.99, ElevenLabs, HeyGen; Canva Pro $18 as reported by Piktochart), the common stacks come to about $73 a month for Gemini (AI Pro, CapCut Pro, Canva Pro and Buffer), about $103 for Claude (Pro, Canva Pro, Zapier Pro, CapCut Pro and Buffer), and $61 to $124 for ChatGPT, depending on whether you add a voice and an avatar tool.
Here is what that looks like after the chat is done. You download the images or clips. You open the editor, lay them on a timeline, cut, add captions and music, and export a version for each size. You open the design app for a cover. You open the scheduler, upload each version, paste the caption and pick a time. Then you do it again for the next post.
And every one of those stacks still leaves you as the glue: writing the prompts, moving files from tool to tool, editing, checking each post, and remembering to post. None of them plans next week for you.
Which one should you pick?
If you mostly need words, pick the one whose writing you like best; all three are good for brainstorming and captions. If you want images and Canva inside the chat, ChatGPT. If you want to connect many tools and do not mind setting them up, Claude. If you want generated video clips, Gemini.
A fair way to choose: give all three the same job on the same day. Paste one prompt with your offer, your audience and a post you liked, and ask for a 30-second script, five hooks and a caption. Keep the one whose answer needs the least rewriting. You can use the no-cost tier of each for this test.
If what you want is the finished post, out on your accounts, every week, a chat AI is the first tool of several.
Or just ask VEXI
VEXI is one chat that does the whole job. Type what you want and it comes back finished: reels, posts, captions and scripts. Videos come back cut, with B-roll and captions, sized for each platform. Upload a long raw recording and get back the clips that work best, captioned, with music laid under each cut. Posts come back with your logo, colors, fonts and voice, and you tap anything on the design to change it.
Then it posts for you to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads and your Google Business Profile, and Autopilot fills your week ahead. It can wait for your approval on everything.
It costs more than any one of these chats: $199, $399 or $599 a month, and every plan starts with a 15-day trial. What you pay for is the work you no longer do. Keep your favorite chat for brainstorming. For the finished post, just ask VEXI.
Questions, answered.
Which is best for social media captions: ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini?
All three write captions and scripts well. Pick the one whose writing sounds most like you, and give it your offer, your audience and an example of a post you liked.
Can ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini post to Instagram or TikTok?
Not on their own. Each needs a scheduler or a third-party app connected to it to post to your social accounts.
Which one makes video?
Gemini makes and edits video clips in the app on paid plans. ChatGPT has Sora, with plan limits that have changed often. Claude does not make video.
Do I still need Canva and CapCut if I use a chat AI?
For a finished social video, usually yes: an editor for the cut, captions and music, a design app for covers, and a scheduler to post. That is why the common stacks run to 4 to 6 subscriptions.
What does VEXI make?
Reels, posts, captions and scripts, plus long-form videos on every plan. Videos come back cut, with B-roll and captions, sized for each platform. Send a long recording like a podcast and get its best clips back.
Where does it post?
Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads and your Google Business Profile, posted for you.
